The City of Edmonds and Fire District 1 have been in discussions regarding an interlocal agreement for Fire District 1 to provide services to the City of Edmonds. Discussion has occurred at council meetings, and the Mayor made a presentation on September 15, 2009 to the Edmonds City Council regarding the contract offer.

At the October 20, 2009 council meeting, the City Council voted 5-2 to further consider two choices regarding the Fire District 1 contract offer:

• Do nothing
• Contract for service using Option 4 (keep stations, land, and transport fees; sell apparatus and equipment).

The Council held a public hearing at their October 27 meeting regarding the contract offer. They will hold another public hearing on Monday, November 2, followed by discussion and potential action.
