ORDINANCE NO. 3349

 

AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASHINGTON, CALLING FOR AN ELECTION AND SPECIFYING A BALLOT TITLE IN THE ANNEXATION OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS TO THE SNO-ISLE LIBRARY DISTRICT, AND FIXING A TIME WHEN THE SAME SHALL BECOME EFFECTIVE.

 

WHEREAS, the City of Edmonds has previously called for a special election to be held regarding the annexation of the City of Edmonds to the Sno-Isle Library District pursuant to RCW 27.12.370; and

WHEREAS, the City of Edmonds wishes to specify a ballot title for such annexation pursuant to said statute, NOW, THEREFORE,

THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF EDMONDS, WASHINGTON, DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:

Section 1.  The City Council of the City of Edmonds does hereby request that a special election be held pursuant to RCW 27.12.370 by Snohomish County, Washington, regarding the annexation of the City of Edmonds to the Sno-Isle Library District.

Section 2.  The ballot proposition shall state:

Shall the City of  Edmonds be annexed to and be a part of the Sno-Isle Library District?

q                                                  YES

q                                                   NO

Section 3.  The City Clerk of the City of Edmonds is hereby authorized to forward a certified copy of this ordinance to the appropriate election official at Snohomish County, signifying the City’s request for special election and designation on the ballot title.

Section 4.  Effective Date.  This ordinance, being an exercise of a power specifically delegated to the City legislative body, is not subject to referendum, and shall take effect five (5) days after passage and publication of an approved summary thereof consisting of the title.
