The Edmonds community enjoys spending traditional holidays together, with family programs for Easter, Memorial Day, 4th of July, Halloween and Christmas. We honor various heritages and celebrate our Sister City relationship with Hekinan, Japan.

Parade down 5th. Avenue.Edmonds is an incubator for artistic talent. Stroll the main streets and beaches and you'll encounter fascinating public art installations of sculpture, paintings and mixed media artwork. The Edmonds Arts Festival, EAF, a tradition for over 40 years is held Father's Day weekend.

In addition to adult and junior juried art exhibits and awards, this festival brings artists and art lovers together for 200 juried booths, entertainment, children's activities and food.

Thanks to a dedicated group of volunteers, it is a top-notch arts event in the Pacific Northwest. Proceeds support the Edmonds Arts Festival Foundation Museum, community programs and arts scholarships. For information, call 425-771-6412 or www.edmondsartsfestival.com

A day long celebration of youth and music in downtown Edmonds. Free jazz, three locations. 10 am to 5 pm. The Edmonds Rotary Waterfront Festival is traditionally held the last weekend of May or first weekend in June. This family festival offers food, games, music and waterfront activities. For information, call 425-771-1744.

Edmonds is widely noted for its beautiful hanging flower baskets and street corner gardens. Edmonds In Bloom, a floral extravaganza that spotlights the best gardens in the area, is celebrated from June through August. Residents and businesses compete for various honors. Tours of private gardens are offered each July. For information, call 425-771-2631.

An Old Fashioned 4th of July fills downtown with holiday activities sponsored by the Greater Edmonds Chamber of Commerce. A children's parade, main patriotic parade, City Park activities and fireworks set to rousing music highlight the day's celebrations. For information, call 425-776-6711.

The Summer Market is held on Saturdays from July through September. Booths feature farm-fresh produce, flowers and crafts. Hosted by the Historical Museum, the market is held at 5th Avenue N. and Bell Street. For information, call 425-774-0900.

On summer Sundays in July and August, free concerts are held at City Park, sponsored by the Edmonds Arts Commission, 425-771-0228.

Eat your way through a food fest like none other! The Taste of Edmonds is sponsored by the Greater Edmonds Chamber of Commerce each August. The event is the largest of its kind in Snohomish County, drawing 75-100,000 fans who flock to food, arts and crafts. It features a festive beer garden, games for the kids and four entertainment stages. For further information, call 425-670-9112.

In October, hone your literary skills at Write on the Sound, a two-day writers' conference presented by the City of Edmonds Arts Commission. Call 425-771-0228 for information.

Over 30 City of Edmonds parks and playfields invite you to play basketball, tennis, softball, horseshoes, baseball, soccer and volleyball.

Edmonds Underwater Park at Brackett's Landing Park.At Yost Park you can picnic, swim or wander through wilderness trails.

Visit the Deer Creek Fish Hatchery where over 100,000 salmon are raised each year. The City of Edmonds Union Oil Marsh, a 23-acre wildlife sanctuary, provides extraordinary bird watching opportunities in a rare urban wetland.

Just south of the ferry terminal, Brackett's Landing South is an award-winning park. Brackett's Landing Park, north and south of the ferry terminal, supports the Edmonds Underwater Park which attracts 40,000 scuba divers annually. The 27 acres were established as a marine preserve and sanctuary in 1970. A sunken dry dock and tug are habitats for a variety of sea life. Showers and public restrooms are available. A nearby divers' shop offers equipment rentals.

Take a low-tide beach walk with a Beach Ranger or explore natural history with the City's Discovery Programs. The Port of Edmonds Marina is a great place to watch a boat launch, amble along the boardwalk, and smell the beautiful flowers.

Did you remember to bring a fishing pole? The City of Edmonds Fishing Pier is open year-round and is wheelchair accessible. Public restrooms are available.
